Dumped contestants Mica and Samraj were given a surprising power on Sunday night's episode of Love Island: the ability to choose which couples would make it to the final three.

In a twist that left viewers exclaiming "this is crazy," the remaining Islanders were unaware as Mica and Samraj, who had just been voted off the show, received a text message revealing their unexpected role. The couple, who were axed after receiving eight votes from their fellow contestants, were then tasked with deciding the fate of the remaining duos.

The episode saw all of the season's previously dumped Islanders return to the villa to vote on which couple they believed least deserved a place in the final. Tommy and Yasmin received six votes, while Jasmine and Kavan garnered three. Julia and Lorenzo received the fewest votes with two.

Mica and Samraj, however, were the couple with the most votes and thus eliminated from the competition. As they prepared to leave, the text message arrived, giving them the ultimate decision-making power.

Fans took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to react to the dramatic turn of events. Comments ranged from "This is brutal" and "This twist is CRAZY!!" to "LMAOOO i actually love this twist," with many expressing surprise at the show's decision to have only three couples in the final.

Mica reflected on their exit, stating that she was excited to see familiar faces and did not have an issue with being voted out, emphasizing that "everyone's entitled to their own opinions." She also expressed her happiness with her relationship with Samraj, saying, "I just feel so lucky that I have him while leaving as well. I don't think I'd be able to do this at all if I didn't have him."

Samraj added that while they had faced elimination a few times, this was the first time he was happy to leave, particularly with their relationship having progressed. He also expressed a desire to prove doubters wrong about their relationship's longevity, stating, "In five years' time, six years' time, Mica's got a big ring on her finger and she's expecting - ''Oh, friends-to-lovers doesn't work?'' I can't wait. Time will prove stuff."

The hit ITV show is heading into its final episode, which will determine the winners of the 2026 series.
