Lady Gaga and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, have welcomed their first child, sources confirmed Friday night. The singer, 40, was reportedly seen cradling a newborn, according to photos obtained by Page Six.
The arrival of the baby comes after a period of reduced public activity for the artist, whose given name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. Her last major public appearances included the premiere of "The Devil Wears Prada 2" on April 20, 2026, and the premiere of the concert documentary "Apple Music Live: Mayhem Requiem" on May 14, 2026, in Los Angeles. Following the latter event, Gaga largely retreated from public view.
Gaga's tour, The Mayhem Ball, concluded on April 13, 2026, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Prior to this, she had maintained a Las Vegas residency from 2018 to 2024. The period after the tour marked an unusually quiet stretch for the artist, who had previously signaled her intention to prioritize family.
In recent months, Gaga was described as having a "mysterious disappearance from public life," with few sightings reported. One resident in Northern California's Marin County, where Gaga reportedly purchased a $10 million home, told the Daily Mail that "tons of Lady Gaga sightings" had occurred in the area. An August 2026 Instagram post from a fan showed a selfie with the singer in Marin County.
Her social media presence also diminished. Following a series of posts promoting her concert film in May 2026, Gaga posted only three times on Instagram. These included a promotion for her beauty venture, Outer Bio, on August 21, a muted photo of herself on August 25, and a makeup tutorial video on September 3.
Prior to the birth, Gaga had spoken openly about her desire to become a mother. In an October 2025 appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," she stated that motherhood would be her "next starring role." Speaking with The New York Times in March 2025, Gaga expressed excitement about becoming a mother, noting, "I would like to do many things, yeah, all of these things. But, what I really want is to be a mom."
She also mentioned wanting her children to have siblings, stemming from her own experience with one sister. Gaga and Polansky, who became engaged in April 2024, have not yet announced wedding plans, though Gaga indicated in March 2026 that they planned to wed "soon."
