Lady Gaga and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, have become parents, with the singer welcoming her first child. The couple was photographed with their newborn on a walk Thursday in Northern California.
Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, and Polansky, 42, have been engaged since March 2024. The pair have largely stayed out of the public eye in recent months, leading to speculation among friends that they may have eloped.
The Grammy winner, 40, has spoken publicly about her desire to become a mother. In November 2025, she told Rolling Stone, "Being a mom is the thing I want the most." She also expressed confidence in Polansky, stating he "gonna be a beautiful father," and shared their mutual excitement about starting a family.
During an appearance on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" in October 2025, Gaga referred to motherhood as her "next starring role." She elaborated, stating, "I would like to do many things. All of these things are open. But, what I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope."
Earlier in 2025, Gaga revealed on "Good Morning America" that she inquired about marriage and children with Polansky on their first date. She recounted his affirmative response and their subsequent toast with Champagne. Gaga, who described herself as a "family girl," emphasized her strong desire for marriage and children. In a March 2025 interview with The New York Times, she expressed excitement about becoming a mother, acknowledging past apprehension. She stated her priority is to allow her children the freedom to discover their own identities without external pressure.
"The thing that’s the most important to me is to not force my children to live a life that they are not choosing," she told the publication. "So the more that we can give them space to discover who they are on their own, that’s the thing that I believe in the most."
In a March 2025 interview with Access Hollywood, Gaga called motherhood "the greatest vision" she has had. In January 2025, she shared with Elle that family serves as the "roots of the tree," defining one's identity and need for change. She added that she would want her children to interpret her artistry as they see fit, without her imposing her own views.
As early as 2020, Gaga expressed anticipation for motherhood in an interview with InStyle, marveling at the biological process of carrying and nurturing a child. She humorously referred to her home as "The Womb" to visitors. Reflecting on her relationship with her own mother in a 2019 interview with Allure, Gaga expressed a hope for a similar connection with her future children, viewing it as a significant gift.
