Jimmy Kimmel skewered Martha Stewart's Halloween costume, which depicted her as a homeless person, during his "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" monologue on Monday.

"Martha Stewart, for whatever reason, dressed like a homeless person," Kimmel said. "I love seeing rich famous people get hammered for their costumes the day after."

Stewart had posted a photo of herself in the costume, complete with a cardboard sign, on Instagram before deleting it. Kimmel quipped, "That's how bad Trump's economy is. Even Martha Stewart is homeless."

Kimmel also questioned how the photo came to be shared, suggesting, "This is how you know your assistant hates you."

Stewart had initially defended the costume, stating it was meant to "bring more awareness to the very serious subject of homelessness." She later apologized via Instagram, acknowledging that her costume was "insensitive and not funny" and that she knew "many people are suffering economically."

Following the controversy, Stewart posted photos of a large assortment of pastries she received from a new bakery, a move that drew further criticism. One commenter requested she "deliver the bread to hungry people," while another noted that her PR team must be "ripping out their hair."
