Twelve years after the popular sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" concluded, star Josh Radnor has shared that the cast members are not close.

Radnor, who played architect Ted Mosby on the series from 2005 to 2014, admitted on the "Half the Picture" podcast that the cast are "not even a little bit" close, but stressed that this is not a negative reflection on their relationships.

"It's like college where you have this very intense time together and you can't imagine not seeing each other every day because you've seen each other every day for so long," Radnor explained. "And then it just disperses and you just go out and live your life."

He likened the cast's dynamic to family, stating, "I think it's a little more like family than friends in that you don't get to choose your family. We were cast. We didn't choose each other." He added that while there is deep and everlasting love, it is not an active love.

Radnor has had some recent interactions with his former co-stars. He reunited with Neil Patrick Harris, who portrayed Barney Stinson, on his rewatch podcast "How We Made Your Mother" in March. Radnor also noted that Cobie Smulders, who played Robin Scherbatsky, has appeared on the podcast twice, though their interactions have primarily been via Zoom.

Radnor extended an invitation to Alyson Hannigan, who played Lily Aldrin, to his 2024 wedding to Jordana Jacobs, but he has not seen her since. Regarding Jason Segel, who played Marshall Eriksen, Radnor stated they exchange texts occasionally but he has not seen Segel in a long time.

"How I Met Your Mother" concluded in 2014 after nine seasons. The show remains available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+. The network previously aired a spin-off, "How I Met Your Father," starring Hilary Duff, for two seasons.

Radnor recently participated in a "How I Met Your Mother"-themed fundraiser concert on June 20, with proceeds supporting pediatric cardiology research. He is also scheduled to perform his "An Evening With" show in New York City in September and will appear in a mockumentary comedy series titled "Mt. Mystic Rangers."
