Lauren Zonfrillo, the widow of MasterChef Australia star Jock Zonfrillo, has shared a touching tribute to mark what would have been his 50th birthday on Tuesday. She posted a throwback photograph on social media, showing herself and Jock beaming during a camping trip.

The image, captured in front of their four-wheel drive at a scenic nature spot, featured Lauren with her arms around her late husband. She captioned the post with emotional words, stating, "On what would have been your 50th, Happy Birthday my love. Our little family is eating lunch in the exact restaurant you would have chosen. Tears, plenty of laughter, and so many stories of Papa. Life will never be as it should have been, but we're forging a new one, and it too is wonderful. Loz x."

MasterChef co-star Andy Allen responded to the post in the comments section, writing, "Sending so much love to you and the kids."

Jock Zonfrillo was found deceased in his Melbourne hotel room on May 1, 2023, at the age of 46, after police were called to conduct a welfare check. Lauren Zonfrillo previously spoke about the moment she learned of his death during an interview on Seven's Spotlight program in May of the previous year. She recalled the harrowing experience of being contacted by police in Italy, where she had moved with their two children, Alfie and Isla, to deliver the news.

During that interview, when asked about the cause of his death, which has not been publicly revealed, Lauren expressed her desire to protect her husband's privacy. She acknowledged that many people were curious but stated, "Jock was very open in what he was willing to talk about. And I don't want to make those decisions."

Approximately two weeks after his death, Lauren led a funeral service at Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium in North Ryde, attended by around 200 mourners. Among the attendees were celebrity chefs George Calombaris, Matt Moran, Colin Fassnidge, Manu Feildel, and Shannon Bennett, as well as Zonfrillo's MasterChef co-stars Andy Allen and Melissa Leong. Lauren delivered a eulogy, and musician Jimmy Barnes sang "Amazing Grace" with his daughter Mahalia.

Before his passing, Zonfrillo had been preparing for the 15th season of MasterChef Australia, which was scheduled to premiere the night his body was discovered. He was also in the early stages of planning a new restaurant and working on a cookbook.
