JJ Slater said his relationship with television personality Katie Price has been "full on" in recent weeks, seeking to push back against reports of a split that have circulated in tabloids.
Slater told the Daily Mail that the couple had been close recently after a series of publicised rumours suggesting they had parted ways. The comments follow months of media attention on Price’s private life, including the star’s high-profile history with pets that has drawn both sympathy and criticism.
Price’s run of incidents involving animals stretches back to at least 2017 and includes a mix of accidents, alleged hit-and-runs, escapes and rehomings. In November 2017, one of her horses was struck and killed on the A24 after reportedly escaping from a field; Price shared an image of a car with a smashed windscreen on social media and described the loss as devastating. That same year she owned two Sphynx cats, Dobby and Hagrid, and in December said she was selling them because her dogs did not get on with the cats; photos of the cats continued to appear on her accounts through 2021.
In 2018 Price said a German shepherd named Queenie, gifted to her on her 36th birthday, was killed in an alleged hit-and-run. Later that year she also recorded the death of a pet chameleon, Marvin, which she said had died after her son Junior moved to his father’s home; a source at the time suggested heating problems in Price’s house may have been a factor.
Price continued to keep a wide range of animals. In 2019 she drew criticism after gifting her daughter a hedgehog named Peggy and later reported Peggy had gone missing in the family home for two weeks. That year she also purchased an Alsatian called Bear; the dog repeatedly escaped and had several near-death incidents on nearby roads before Price said she rehomed him in April 2019.
Several other dogs in Price’s care died after running onto roads or being struck by vehicles. In 2020 an Alsatian named Sparkle was reported killed on the A24; the same year a French bulldog called Rolo suffocated after becoming trapped under an electric armchair. Price said she had been advised to give the puppy CBD oil and later suggested that the oil may have encouraged him to find a warm place to sleep, remarks that generated debate about pet welfare and the marketing of such products.
In 2021 Price gave away a French bulldog named Precious to a builder working on her Channel 4 show. By 2022 she had four Chihuahuas — Captain, Buddy, Colin and Batman — and reported a frightening episode when Captain went missing while on holiday in Dorset but was later found and identified via microchip. Also in 2022, a Pomeranian called Sharon was reported killed after allegedly escaping and being struck on the A24.
In June 2023 Price confirmed the death of a protection dog named Blade, who she said had been struck by a car near her West Sussex property. Price said the RSPCA had visited her home and later claimed someone had deliberately killed the animal; she and aides said they were trying to understand the circumstances of Blade’s death. The RSPCA’s visit and Price’s public statements prompted media coverage and public debate about animal safety on and near her property.
In July 2023 Price bought a German shepherd, Tank, but reports in 2024 said she had given the dog away after losing interest. Social media footage from around that period showed Price admonishing a puppy that had been sitting on clothes; some viewers interpreted the clip as an instance of mistreatment and the episode added to scrutiny over her pet-keeping practices.
Price has also continued to work with and care for cats. She said in October she welcomed a Sphynx cat named Doris and two other hairless cats into her home. In August 2025 she told followers that one of Doris’s litter of premature kittens had died and that she had been working around the clock to help the surviving kittens latch on to their mother.
Price’s pattern of animal deaths, escapes and rehomings has repeatedly attracted media attention and public reaction, and has overlapped with coverage of her personal and professional life, including relationships, television projects and financial matters. Slater’s recent comments seeking to confirm the couple’s closeness come amid that ongoing public scrutiny.
Representatives for Price did not immediately respond to requests for comment about the relationship status or the catalogue of incidents involving her pets. Slater’s comments were published as part of a wider media account in which he addressed split rumours and described the state of the couple’s relationship.
As the couple navigate renewed attention, the record of incidents involving Price’s animals since 2017 has remained a recurrent theme in coverage of her private life, drawing responses from animal welfare organisations, fans and critics alike.
