Jennifer Lopez believes that breakups should be celebrated as a positive step towards personal growth, rather than viewed as failures. In a recent interview on the podcast 'Subway Takes,' the singer and actress, 56, stated that "Breakups are not a failure. I honestly feel like it’s a launchpad into your next best self." She added that people should "have a party when we break up" and that friends should offer congratulations.

Lopez, who filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024 after two years of marriage, shared her philosophy on heartbreak. "If you're the one who's being heartbroken, you're the winner," she said, contrasting it with being the one to break hearts, which she described as "being a loser" because "you're never learning anything."

Lopez recounted that significant emotional, mental, and psychological growth in her life has stemmed from heartbreaks, whether romantic or professional. She explained that these difficult times prompt introspection, leading to self-examination and ultimately change. "It’s the only time you dig. You’re like, ‘What the f*** happened? How do I do this? Why do I keep doing this? Or why didn’t that happen? What could I have done better?'" she stated. "You change yourself completely."

Lopez has been married four times. Her marriage to Ben Affleck followed an earlier engagement in November 2002, which was postponed days before the wedding due to media attention. They officially separated in January 2004, only to reconnect two decades later. Her longest marriage was to Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, with whom she has 18-year-old twins, Max and Emme.

Earlier marriages include Cris Judd from 2001 to 2002, and Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998. She has also had high-profile relationships with Alex Rodriguez, Casper Smart, and Sean 'Diddy' Combs.

When discussing her romantic preferences, Lopez stated, "I don't discriminate. I like skinny guys. I like a chunk around the middle. I like beards, I like clean shaven, it doesn't matter. It's the person inside."
