Janet Jackson, 60, made a sartorial statement at the BET Awards 2026 on Sunday, honoring two influential figures in music: her late brother Michael Jackson and rapper Tupac Shakur.
Jackson's ensemble included a vintage Tupac t-shirt, a nod to her co-star from the 1993 film "Poetic Justice." She paired the t-shirt with a layered black-and-white outfit, a grommeted belt, and stacks of silver bracelets.
Her outfit was completed with a veiled fedora, a style famously associated with her brother Michael Jackson. The late pop star often donned a similar hat, notably in his 1991 music video for "Black or White." The fedora has become a signature accessory synonymous with Michael Jackson's distinctive style and stage persona.
During the ceremony, Janet Jackson presented Teyana Taylor with the Icon of the Year award. Also in attendance were Michael Jackson's nephew Jaafar Jackson, who portrayed the King of Pop in the recent biopic "Michael," and Nia Long, who played Katherine Jackson in the film.
While several Jackson family members attended the premiere of the "Michael" biopic in April, Janet, along with her sister LaToya and Michael's daughter Paris, did not attend the event. Sources close to the situation indicated that Janet had reservations about the film's content. Paris Jackson also publicly stated on Instagram that she had no involvement in the movie's production, contrary to some reports.
