Former "Good Morning America Weekend" anchor Janai Norman has relocated her family to South Africa, months after her departure from ABC News. Norman announced on Instagram that she and her husband, Eli, and their three children are "taking a break" from the U.S. and appear to have settled in the KwaZulu-Natal province.

Norman's contract with ABC was not renewed in April, ending her tenure with the network after joining in 2016. She co-anchored "GMA Weekend" starting in 2022.

"Less than two months out from publication, forcing myself to post daily for 60 days and make use of stories," Norman posted on Instagram Stories, referring to her upcoming memoir, "Breaking." She added, "On that note, pre-orders are really important. Have you ordered yours?" She then shared that her family was "taking a break from the US."

Norman previously expressed her disappointment about her abrupt exit from "GMA Weekend." "I'd hoped that we'd have more time. It's been hard on me that our time was cut short. I have loved my job," she said in a video posted to X in April. "So, it really breaks my heart that I don't get to say goodbye. I'm so sorry that I don't get to say goodbye. It would have been fun."

Following her departure from ABC, Norman listed her six-bedroom home in Montclair, New Jersey, for $3.2 million, which has since been reduced to $3 million. She has also publicly commented on ABC's news coverage, including criticizing an interview conducted by Michael Strahan concerning the death of Nolan Wells.
