James Buckley, known for his role in the sitcom "The Inbetweeners," is reportedly still visiting pubs and consuming alcohol, despite recently vowing to change his lifestyle after a genetic disease diagnosis. His wife, Clair Buckley, shared this update during an appearance on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X.
Buckley, 38, announced on "The Buckleys" podcast that he has been diagnosed with a high Lipoprotein(a) level, a genetic condition that increases the risk of cardiovascular incidents due to accelerated plaque buildup in arteries. He had been hospitalized for severe dehydration, which led to the discovery of his condition. Following this, Buckley stated his intention to adopt a healthier lifestyle, including changes to his diet and abstaining from alcohol.
However, Clair Buckley indicated on the radio show that her husband has not fully adhered to these changes. When asked about his drinking habits, she responded, "He still drinks!... he did knock it on the head for a little while but he still goes to the pub." Buckley had previously admitted on his podcast, "I'm going to have a beer soon," but his wife's comments suggest continued engagement with alcohol and pub visits amid his health concerns.
Lipoprotein(a) affects approximately one in five people globally and often presents no symptoms until a cardiovascular event occurs. Buckley explained that doctors advised him to change his lifestyle due to the condition, noting, "I'm at a high risk now for a cardiovascular incident. My heart, my arteries..."
Clair Buckley also shared her own recent health scare, describing a virus that caused severe dehydration, leading to hospitalization. She has since recovered and is reportedly feeling well.
This news emerges amidst reports of a potential third "The Inbetweeners" film for Netflix, with the four main cast members, including Buckley, Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, and Blake Harrison, reportedly signed on. There is also speculation that Emily Atack might reprise her role as Charlotte Hinchcliffe.
