Andrew Cabot, the Massachusetts distillery executive and husband of Astronomer HR chief Kristin Cabot, said his divorce filing was already underway before his wife’s widely shared on‑stage moment at a Coldplay concert and urged for privacy as the matter becomes public.

A spokeswoman for the 61‑year‑old Privateer Rum CEO told People that the couple “were privately and amicably separated several weeks before the Coldplay concert,” and that “their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening.” The statement added that with the filing now public, Andrew Cabot “hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they’ve always valued.” “No further public comment will be made,” it said.

Court records viewed by media show Kristin Cabot, 52, filed a divorce petition in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on Aug. 13. The filing came less than a month after video from a July Coldplay performance at Gillette Stadium captured Cabot and Astronomer CEO Andy Byron on the venue's large screen during the band’s “Jumbotron Song.” Seconds later both individuals ducked out of frame, and frontman Chris Martin — after initially observing “Look at these two” — said onstage, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

When the clip circulated online, it prompted scrutiny of both executives and intense public reaction. Both Kristin Cabot and Andy Byron subsequently left their roles at Astronomer amid the backlash. Byron was later identified as married; his spouse reportedly removed his surname from her social media profiles following the incident.

Andrew Cabot was reportedly traveling for business in Japan at the time of the concert and returned to find the episode had become a public spectacle. The Cabots had purchased a roughly $2.2 million New England–style home near the Atlantic coast about five months before the incident, according to reporting. The pending divorce will be the third for Andrew Cabot, who has two children from a prior marriage; Kristin Cabot was previously married to Kenneth Thornby, from whom she divorced in 2022.

Astronomer, a software company, has not publicly disputed the timeline of the resignations. The company's leadership changes and the viral video have drawn attention to executive conduct and personal lives intersecting with public events, but the spokeswoman for Andrew Cabot emphasized that the couple sought to resolve their private matters outside of public view.

The People statement and court filings provide the clearest public account to date of when the Cabots’ separation began. With divorce documents filed and both Astronomer executives having left the company, the parties involved now face legal steps in New Hampshire and continued public attention tied to the viral stadium footage.
