Stefani, 56, uploaded images from her July 3, 2021, wedding, which took place at Shelton's ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. The custom Vera Wang gown and veil were featured in several of the photographs. One image captured the couple holding hands at the altar during the ceremony officiated by Carson Daly. Another showed Stefani walking down the aisle toward a visibly emotional Shelton.
In a caption accompanying the posts, Stefani wrote, "5 years married to my forever." Shortly before her posts, Shelton also shared a tribute to Stefani on Instagram, accompanying it with a carousel of photos from their wedding. "5 years and every day is better than the last... I love you @gwenstefani SHELTON!!!! Happy anniversary my pretty girl!!!!" he wrote.
Stefani's social media activity prompted some reactions from fans who perceived her timing as an attempt to draw attention away from Swift's wedding. One fan commented on X, "Now girl why you do Taylor like that lol I am not even a swiftie but this feel like a very attention seeking post." However, many fans defended Stefani, reminding critics that July 3 is not exclusively tied to Swift and Kelce's event. "The whole f***ing world doesn't revolve around Taylor Swift's dumb wedding. Gwen is allowed to celebrate her anniversary," one defender tweeted. Another added, "It's their 5th anniversary. Grow up."

The ceremony reportedly took place at 7:30 p.m. ET, with comedian Adam Sandler serving as the officiant. Stefani's first anniversary post appeared on Instagram approximately four hours before Swift and Kelce's marriage was confirmed publicly, while her X post was published about an hour prior.
