A seagull has been photographed engaging in an audacious theft, snatching a fish directly from the mouth of a seal in Northumberland. The unusual encounter occurred on October 31 in Warkworth Harbour.

The gull dive-bombed the seal as it surfaced with its catch. Witnesses reported a brief tug-of-war over the fish before the seagull ultimately succeeded in wrestling the meal free. The bird then swallowed the fish in a single gulp, while the seal descended back into the water.

The thuggish gull mounted its attack in a Northumberland harbour on Halloween.

It remains unknown if the gull has a history of targeting seals for their catches. While known for their opportunistic raids on human food, this incident marks a notable shift in their predatory behavior.
