Anthony Mangieri, the mastermind behind the globally renowned Una Pizza Napoletana, is set to return to San Francisco for a series of exclusive, ticketed pop-up events. This marks his first culinary appearance in the city since his South of Market location closed in 2017.
The celebrated pizzaiolo announced his return via the eatery's Instagram page, signaling a special occasion for the 30th anniversary of his brand. While the long queues that characterized his previous San Francisco stint will be absent, securing a spot at these events comes with significant costs and limited availability.
Tickets for the pop-up, priced at $110 per person, go on sale this Thursday. Given the rapid sell-outs of reservations at his Manhattan flagship, these exclusive opportunities are expected to disappear quickly. Diners who secure a reservation will experience a unique offering: a split pizza featuring both marinara and margherita, personally prepared by Mangieri. The event, to be held at Marina hotspot A16 on November 16, will also include house-marinated olives, a custom cocktail from Bar Agricole, fruit sorbetto, espresso, and a special merchandise bag containing Mangieri's private-label olive oil and cycling gear.
Following the dinner event, a separate morning session is scheduled at Linea Caffe in the Mission District. Mangieri, who established Una Pizza Napoletana in New Jersey in 1996 and later moved to New York City, has previously credited San Francisco's unique environment, including its climate and tap water, for influencing his innovative dough techniques and multi-flour blends, which contribute to his signature crusts.
