Glasgow has stepped into the role of New York City for the recently released Marvel film, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." While the on-screen action is set in the iconic American metropolis, much of the filming for the movie, which stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, took place over 3,000 miles away in the Scottish city.
Filming operations in Glasgow's city center drew crowds last summer as onlookers gathered to watch Holland perform action sequences in his superhero costume. This cinematic endeavor marks the latest in a series of high-profile Hollywood productions to utilize Glasgow as a filming location in recent years.
The city is also slated to double as Gotham City for the upcoming sequel to "The Batman," with filming scheduled to begin next month.
According to Screen Scotland, Glasgow's distinctive features, including its Victorian architecture, broad avenues, and grid-like street layout, make it a highly adaptable stand-in for numerous American urban environments. These characteristics have contributed to its increasing popularity as a filming destination for major motion pictures.
