Georgia Love, a participant in Australia's "The Bachelorette," has humorously commented on the recent Logie Awards ceremony, even volunteering to host the event next year. Love shared a social media clip suggesting that this year's ceremony set such a high bar, partly due to host Robert Irwin's performance, that future events might struggle to reach the same level.
"Robert Irwin, you are 22 years old... You can't be THAT good! Leave some space for the rest of us... honestly! If I host next year, I'll make it right," Love joked, according to reports. She also playfully questioned the necessity of future awards after Sam Pang secured the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.
Pang, a star from Channel Ten, won the prestigious award, beating out fellow nominees Allison Langdon, Julia Morris, Lisa Millar, Poh Ling Yeow, and Todd Woodbridge. Pang expressed surprise upon receiving the award, thanking Magda Szubanski, who presented the award while in character as Sharon Strzelecki. Szubanski's appearance marked her first public event since completing chemotherapy for stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma.
Pang acknowledged Irwin's hosting, noting his youth and contrasting it with his own experience. "Twenty-two years. I've got neckties older than him," Pang remarked. He also humorously addressed the audience, suggesting that those he might forget to thank should consider their contribution. Pang shared a personal reflection, stating, "I grew up watching television at the feet of my parents – they wouldn't let me on the couch – and I never thought I would be on it." He concluded by expressing gratitude for being part of the television industry.
Earlier in the evening, Pang and Tom Gleisner had accepted the award for Best Comedy Entertainment Program for "Have You Been Paying Attention?" Reports from May indicated that Pang had previously stepped down from his hosting role for the Logies, having served for three years. He reportedly declined an offer to host the current year's ceremony, stating that three years felt like a sufficient tenure.
