Leaked nightclub photographs of tennis player Nick Kyrgios's former girlfriend, Costeen Hatzi, with Dean Contos, a man with a criminal past including a kidnapping conviction, have ignited a public dispute.
Hatzi, 26, was photographed celebrating her birthday at the Sussudio nightclub in Sydney with Contos, 38. The images show Hatzi leaning into Contos, with her arm around him.
Contos has a history of legal troubles, including serving nearly four years in jail for aggravated kidnapping in 2021. He was also previously involved in a relationship with model Natalie Marangos, which included incidents leading to legal proceedings for both parties.
Hatzi's manager, Roxy Jacenko, issued a statement asserting that Hatzi had met Contos only once briefly in a nightclub setting some months ago and has no interest in being associated with him. Jacenko dismissed the emergence of the photos as a "pursuit of publicity by a party with an agenda." She further stated that Hatzi was not in a relationship at the time the photos were taken, countering claims made by Contos.
Contos, who has reportedly been associated with the Comanchero motorcycle club, told the Daily Mail that Hatzi "was seeing a guy who paid for her new boob job" and that this individual was upset by the photographs. The Daily Mail reported last week that Hatzi had recently undergone breast augmentation surgery.
Hatzi, a digital creator with over 170,000 Instagram followers, previously dated Kyrgios. The couple reportedly split in August 2025. Before their separation, Hatzi frequently traveled with Kyrgios, supporting him during his international tennis tournaments, including his run to the 2022 Wimbledon singles final. Following their breakup, Hatzi stated she was enjoying the freedom to "do what I want and be fully present."
Kyrgios, known for his on-court demeanor and flamboyant style, missed a singles wildcard for the upcoming Wimbledon tournament but secured a spot in the men's doubles. He recently revealed he has been dating marketing manager Danai Stamati since April.
Contos's past criminal convictions include a five-year, 10-month sentence for two counts of aggravated kidnapping, stemming from an incident in February 2019 where he ambushed and assaulted two men he believed were stealing from his apartment. He served a minimum of three years and 10 months before his release. Additionally, Contos has been the subject of apprehended violence orders (AVOs) protecting Sydney women, including interim AVOs filed in 2024 by police to protect Natalie Marangos. He spent three months in jail in 2024 after being charged with domestic violence offenses allegedly committed against Marangos. Some of these charges, including stalking and contravening an AVO, were dismissed in December. He was also found not guilty of charges including intentionally choking and common assault in December. Contos is currently the subject of a two-year AVO imposed in March.
In a separate incident in February of last year, Contos encountered Marangos at a Sydney restaurant. During an altercation, Marangos threw a lamp at Contos, striking him on the forehead and causing a cut. Marangos later pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, with her defense citing post-traumatic stress disorder and coercive control in her relationship with Contos. The assault charge was dismissed under mental health provisions.
