Dick and Angel Strawbridge, stars of the popular series "Escape To The Chateau," have shared details and photographs from their recent summer holiday in Canada with their children, Arthur, 13, and Dorothy, 11. The family gathering, described as 'wonderful,' included various activities such as rowing and boating on a lake.
The couple, who recently confirmed the return of their Channel 4 show, posted snapshots from their trip on Instagram. Angel Strawbridge reflected on the holiday, stating, "What a summer to remember! Part two of our adventures took us to Canada for a wonderful Strawbridge family gathering. There was lots of family time, lots of laughter and plenty of memories made."
Upon returning home, the family enjoyed quieter moments before the start of the new school year. "For Arthur and Dorothy, that's TOMORROW!" Angel wrote, noting her daughter Dorothy's enthusiasm for preparing her school bag and new stationery.
"Escape To The Chateau," which followed the couple and their family as they renovated a French estate, is set to return to UK screens later this year. The show concluded its nine-series run in 2022. A Christmas special is planned, and the new series will reportedly feature the children more prominently.
Angel confirmed the show's return in an interview, stating, "We will return to UK screens this year. What we do have is a Christmas Special attached to it... So the series may sit until later in the year to tie in with the Christmas Special." She added that the children will be "more involved" in the upcoming season.
Dick Strawbridge explained the decision to continue, noting the family's changing dynamics. "Series 10 existed because there was such big change within the family - Arthur is a young man now, Dorothy's a young woman. But those changes haven't quite finished, so we made the decision that Series 11 would follow from 10, because there are more things we've started in 10 that still need to be completed." He emphasized that protecting family time remains their priority.
The couple stated their return is prompted by a new era for their family and a promise to invite cameras back when the time was right. "We promised that when the time was right for our family, we'd invite the cameras back in to give you an update – and maybe even a Christmas Special... and that time is now!" they shared.
Previously, the couple had expressed no regrets about stepping away from the show in 2022, citing a desire to focus on their children's lives and navigate senior school. The decision to conclude the show came after behind-the-scenes issues, including a reported bullying scandal that led Channel 4 to cut ties with the pair in May 2023 following an independent investigation.
