Elle Macpherson has unveiled a distinct, European-influenced accent while promoting her latest collaboration with the luxury fashion brand Linnea Lund. The 62-year-old Australian supermodel showcased the accent in a short Instagram video posted on Monday.
During the clip, Macpherson expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership with French-Swedish designer Charlotte Bjorklund. "I really wanted to do this collaboration with Charlotte because A, the quality, B, I love her, C, I love female founders," she stated. "Also, I wanted to do something she didn't have, that I wanted for myself."
Mentioned as a "global" accent that has become increasingly difficult to define, Macpherson's current speech is a departure from the Australian accent she had while growing up in Sydney. She achieved international fame in the 1980s and subsequently spent many years living and working abroad, including extended periods in New York and London, as well as traveling extensively throughout Europe.
Macpherson has previously discussed the linguistic diversity within her own family. In 2018, she noted that her two sons, Flynn and Aurelius Cy, possess different accents. "I do have one son who's 15 who has a very broad Australian accent and I have the other one who's 20 has an English accent," she said at the time. Flynn was born in New York City, while Aurelius was born in London. Macpherson shares both sons with her former partner, French financier Arpad Busson.
Macpherson's personal life has included marriages to Miami property billionaire Jeffrey Soffer from 2013 to 2017, and later relationships with British former doctor Andrew Wakefield and American musician Doyle Bramhall II.
