An unidentified member of the legendary band Earth, Wind & Fire was hospitalized in critical condition Thursday night after experiencing a cardiac incident before a scheduled performance in San Francisco. The incident prompted the immediate cancellation of the concert at the Chase Center.

Paramedics transported the band member from the venue just before the show's scheduled 7:30 p.m. start time. The Chase Center confirmed the postponement shortly after 7:20 p.m., citing a medical emergency involving a band member. HIPAA laws prevent the hospital from releasing the patient's identity.

The canceled show was part of a co-headlining tour with Lionel Richie. A statement from Earth, Wind & Fire indicated that the concert with Richie would be rescheduled, with new date information to be announced soon. Ticket holders were advised to keep their tickets for the rescheduled date or seek refunds at their point of purchase.

This is not the first health-related interruption for the tour. Lionel Richie himself experienced a health scare in June while performing in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he felt dizzy and had to cut his performance short.

The Chase Center is the home arena of the Golden State Warriors, located in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood. Following the postponed San Francisco show, the tour was scheduled to continue on Saturday in Palm Desert, with subsequent stops planned in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Austin.
