Eamonn Holmes, 65, and his girlfriend Katie Alexander, 43, stepped onto the red carpet together for the Icon Awards in London on Saturday, their first joint appearance since reports that the honeymoon phase of their relationship had begun to fade.
Holmes, who has battled health issues since spinal surgery in 2022, attended the event with the aid of an electric wheelchair. He wore a black suit with a white polka dot tie, looking dapper as he walked the carpet.
Alexander, a marriage counsellor, accompanied him in a tailored black blazer with rolled-up sleeves and a floor-length skirt that was sheer at the bottom, completed with a black scarf wrapped around her neck.
The Icon Awards ceremony took place at the Troxy in east London. Other stars on the red carpet included Lizzie Cundy, Denise Welch and actor Tamer Hassan, with Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle also making a rare appearance.
The Daily Mail reported that the romance may be cooling. A friend told the tabloid, "Let’s just say the honeymoon period looks like it is very much at its end." The friend added that Holmes had become "grumpier than ever" and that his chronic back pain "really aren’t helping" but that, instead of moving closer to Katie, he had spent more time with his family in Belfast, often without her.
Colleagues at GB News described him as "very, very moany"; one colleague said he is "a miserable goat even on a good day" and noted that the only thing that cheers him is going to work, where he "loves" his job.
Earlier reporting noted a rift with his younger son Niall, 32, who has sided with Eamonn's ex-wife Ruth after the couple’s split. It is understood that Jack, 23, also sided with Ruth, while Eamonn is father to Declan, 36, and Rebecca, 34, from his first marriage, and remains close to them.
Despite private tensions reported by outlets, Holmes and Katie appeared united on the red carpet, sharing smiles for photographers as they navigated questions about their relationship.
