Dolly Parton has a secret song hidden away, not to be heard by the public until 2045. The country music icon revealed the existence of the song, which is sealed within a time capsule at Dollywood's DreamMore Resort, in an interview with HuffPost last year. The capsule is slated to be opened when Parton reaches 100 years old.
"It's not supposed to be open till I'll be 100, and which, that's the day after tomorrow," Parton quipped about the nearly two-decade wait. While she expressed a playful desire to perhaps add another song or retrieve the current one, she acknowledged the agreement made for its release.
Parton indicated that the song holds significant personal meaning. "I thought very long and hard about what it should be saying, at that time," she told HuffPost. She also mused on the future of music playback, suggesting that if technology allows, fans might experience the song as intended, or if it has deteriorated, it would signify her well wishes.
Parton's family announced her death at 80 on Tuesday, stating she passed after a brief battle with cancer. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, shared her wish to rest comfortably, describing her desire for a bed of plush cotton after a life of wearing "heavy rhinestones."
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to Parton's Imagination Library foundation, which promotes childhood literacy.
