Actor Dermot Mulroney has filed for divorce from musician Prima Apollinaare after 15 years of marriage, court documents show.
Mulroney filed the petition on Monday, June 23, citing irreconcilable differences, according to ABC News and court filings reviewed by media outlets. In the documents, he requests joint physical and legal custody of the couple’s two daughters. Media reports also noted a request related to spousal support; however, a source who spoke to People described the split as "amicable," saying, "No one is asking for anything, and no one is denying anything. They are not arguing over the children nor money."
Mulroney and Apollinaare were married in 2010. Apollinaare previously performed under the name Tharita Catullé. The couple share daughters Mabel Ray, 17, and Sally June, 15, who were referenced in the custody provisions in the filing.
Mulroney is known for roles in films and television including My Best Friend’s Wedding, Friends and Zodiac. He was previously married to actress Catherine Keener; that marriage ended in 2007 after roughly 17 years, and Mulroney has a son, Clyde Keener Mulroney, 26, from that relationship.
The filing formalizes the end of a marriage that began in the early 2010s and lasted about a decade and a half. Public statements from either Mulroney or Apollinaare were not immediately available following the filing, and their representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Court documents filed in family court are the primary public record of the split. Media outlets have cited both those filings and a source close to the couple in reporting that the separation is being handled privately. The couple’s reported emphasis on joint custody aligns with the source’s characterization that the parties are not in dispute over their children or finances.
The legal process typically requires additional filings and, if contested, court hearings; however, when both parties agree on custody and support, settlements are often reached more quickly through negotiated agreements or mediation. Any future court dates or filings will be a matter of public record and will provide further details about custody arrangements and any financial terms agreed to by the parties.
