Photos published by the Daily Mail show this year’s cohort of debutantes at the Queen Charlotte’s Ball, an invite-only gala held Saturday at One Whitehall Place in London. The group, aged roughly 16 to 21, wore white ballgowns, tiaras and high-jewellery pieces as organisers staged the annual presentation.
The ball, a social event tracing its origins to 1780 when King George III founded it in honour of Queen Charlotte, is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious in Britain. Organisers said each debutante must pass a rigorous interview process before being invited to appear, a selection procedure they say assesses character, education and social standing.
Among the young women photographed at the event was Chloe Lawson, 17, identified as Miss Teen Pageant Girl 2024/25. Lawson wore an ornate Josephine Scott gown and jewellery from Bulgari and was pictured arriving with family and a companion. Social posts shared after the ball described the evening as “playing princess for the evening.”
Chloe Allegart, 18, who is reported to compete in wakeboarding for Belgium, also made her society debut. Photographs show Allegart in a bardot white lace dress wearing Bulgari’s Serpentine Viper necklace. Profiles associated with Allegart describe her as having competed in wakeboarding since 2018.
Lauren Bilafer, an American recent graduate of Southern Methodist University, attended the ball before beginning a professional role in finance. Bilafer, who holds a master’s degree in Business Administration and Management from SMU and has a background in competitive collegiate rowing and coaching, is reported to be joining Pine Valley Capital Partners in Austin, Texas.
Scarlett Talitha, 19 and based in Cheshire, was photographed among the group in an off-the-shoulder white gown. Talitha largely keeps a private social profile but was shown socialising with other debutantes and companions on the red-carpeted stairway at the venue.
Irene Zhai, who completed secondary education in Shanghai and is listed by her social profile as planning study at University of the Arts London, was also among the debutantes. In one image she is seen adjusting a fellow debutante’s earring as the group prepared to enter the event.
Photographs and reporting noted a range of backgrounds among the debutantes, including students, athletes and pageant titleholders. Jewellery houses such as Bulgari were visible in several images, worn with tiaras and satin gloves customary to the presentation.
Organisers emphasise the ball’s long history and the selective nature of invitations. This year’s presentation continued the event’s tradition of pairing debutantes with escorts and staging a formal arrival and reception at the central London venue. The international mix of attendees highlighted the ball’s appeal beyond Britain’s traditional social circles.
The Queen Charlotte’s Ball continues to attract attention for its combination of heritage pageantry and contemporary social networking, bringing together young people preparing to enter professional and public life as well as those from established social families.
