Davina McCall, a prominent figure in British television for over two decades, intends to retire in five years. The 58-year-old host of "Long Lost Family" plans to step away from her career at the age of 62, coinciding with her husband Michael Douglas's planned retirement at 58.

This decision follows McCall's recent health struggles, including surgery for breast cancer and the removal of a rare brain tumor. "We've got five years of hard work left in us," Douglas stated. "Then I think it's time for us to relax and enjoy all of that hard work. Davina will be about 62 and I'll be around 58. There comes a point where you think, when do we actually sit back and enjoy everything we've worked so hard for?"

McCall's health concerns prompted a reevaluation of her life and career. Last year, she revealed that she underwent surgery for breast cancer after discovering a small lump early on. "It was very, very small, so I got it very, very early which is incredibly lucky," she said. "But I am so relieved to have had it removed and to know that it hasn't spread."

In 2024, McCall also had surgery to remove a colloid cyst, a rare brain tumor, which was discovered during a health check-up related to her menopause advocacy. She has since received the all-clear following a series of MRI scans.

The couple recently celebrated their marriage with a second wedding party at their home in Kent, seven months after their civil ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall. They began dating seven years prior, after McCall's split from her previous husband, Matthew Robertson. Douglas, a celebrity hairstylist, is currently working with the haircare brand OGX. Both he and McCall emphasized their current well-being but acknowledged the unpredictability of future health.
