Reece Weaver, a prominent figure in the third season of Netflix's 'America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders,' has retired from the squad after three years. The 24-year-old Florida native revealed her decision in the season finale, citing a desire to move into a new chapter of her life. Weaver's time with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) was documented extensively, highlighting her challenges with public scrutiny, the physical demands of the role, and balancing her commitments with her marriage.
In her exit interview with DCC Director Kelli Finglass and Head Choreographer Judy Trammell, Weaver expressed gratitude for her experience. "This is a hard day, but I think I’m going to move on to a new chapter," Weaver said, her voice filled with emotion. "I’m emotional because of how grateful I am, truly. I owe a lot to you guys because y’all trusted me with this position, and it’s been everything and more than I could imagine."
Finglass acknowledged Weaver's significant contributions, noting that she was a "hard one to put an X through" on the list of departing members. Trammell observed that Weaver's "life is further along, and I think she knows how and why her life has changed so much," adding that Weaver has a "grateful heart."
Fellow cheerleader Charly Barby, who tried out for the DCC with Weaver in 2023 and made the team in 2024, shared her perspective on Weaver's decision. Barby stated that she had been with Weaver "throughout every part of her decision" to retire. "Every part of my journey through DCC has been with her," Barby said, describing Weaver as an "incredible role model" and one of the "most inspirational people" she has ever met. Barby expressed pride in Weaver's future endeavors, anticipating her "grow her wings and fly."
