The last two dates on singer d4vd's U.S. tour and multiple stops on his European schedule have been removed from ticketing sites as Los Angeles police and other authorities continue investigating the discovery of a decomposed teenage girl’s body in an impounded Tesla earlier this month. The development comes as officials seek to determine what happened to Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was 15 when she disappeared last year and whose body was found in a car that was impounded in the city.
Police have not indicated that d4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, 20, is a person of interest or suspect in the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Several outlets have reported that the vehicle involved was registered to d4vd, though investigators have not publicly confirmed ownership of the car. A representative for the singer told NBC Los Angeles that d4vd has been cooperating with authorities since the body was found, and there was no immediate comment from the singer’s management on the status of the tour.
San Francisco’s Friday show was listed as canceled on the venue’s site, and Ticketmaster marked both the San Francisco date and the Los Angeles stop—the final U.S. date—as canceled. A scheduled appearance at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles this week, once listed as sold out, was also removed from the venue’s site. Representatives for the venues and for d4vd did not respond to requests for comment from The Associated Press.
The North American leg of the alt-pop singer’s tour began in early August, with Europe on the itinerary for early October. Ticketing data reviewed by the AP shows that at least nine European dates have been canceled, including the first stop in Norway planned for Oct. 1. A number of shows in Sweden, France, and Poland, as well as the handful of dates set for Australia in December, remain available for purchase as of Friday.
Beyond the immediate tour disruptions, the case brings renewed attention to d4vd, a rising Gen Z artist whose blend of indie rock, R&B and lo-fi pop drew millions of TikTok views after his 2022 hit Romantic Homicide. The track reached the top five on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart and helped propel the Houston-born singer into a signing with Darkroom and Interscope. His debut EP Petals to Thorns followed in 2023, along with The Lost Petals, a companion project released later that year. The AP reported the public dimension of the case in the context of the ongoing investigation; the cause of death for Rivas Hernandez has not yet been determined by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Rivas was last seen in April 2024 in Lake Elsinore, about 60 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles. Her body was described by the medical examiner’s office as severely decomposed when found inside the impounded vehicle. The department has not released any public statement tying the singer to the case, and investigators have not announced charges in connection with the death. The investigation continues, and authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.
With the tour disruptions already affecting ticket holders, promoters and venues are awaiting clearer guidance from investigators before confirming when, or if, d4vd will resume performances. The album and the artist’s broader profile remain under discussion among industry observers who say the case underscores the complexity of handling investigations that intersect with live-entertainment calendars.
