Courtney Love revealed in a recent Instagram video that she nearly died during a significant health battle in 2019. The singer recounted that her "body just exploded" upon arriving in the UK that year, leading to extensive hospital stays.

"I almost died," Love stated, describing the period where she lost all her hair and her weight dropped to approximately 100 pounds. Despite the severity of her condition, she expressed a childhood-rooted skepticism towards authority that influenced her reaction to medical pronouncements. "When they said you are going to die, I just didn’t believe them," she said.

Love did not specify the exact illness but confirmed she has since recovered and is currently healthy. She also touched on the writing and recording process for her upcoming album, which she conceived as potentially her last.

"When I made it, I believed this was my last record so I made the record I always wanted to make," she explained. "I was in the hospital mostly but when I wasn’t all I did was write & record it. I want to tour more than anything. & I want to sing."

The musician, whose last album was 2010's "Nobody's Daughter" (a Hole album on which she was the sole member), asked fans for patience regarding new music and her return to public life. "I'm not going to tell people red is blue anymore. Thank you for giving me the grace I need to prepare how to enter the world again," she concluded in her caption. Love had previously announced in March 2025 that she had permanently relocated to England.
