Chrissie Swan has finalised the sale of her renovated Melbourne home for about A$2.5 million, property listings and reports said Friday.
The Hawthorn East property, listed earlier this year with an asking range of A$2.6 million to A$2.86 million, is understood to have sold for just under the lower end of that range. Swan bought the house in 2022 and spent several years renovating the mid‑century residence and a separate two‑bedroom cottage at the rear.
The property sits on a roughly 600‑square‑metre allotment about 11 kilometres from Melbourne’s central business district. The main residence, dubbed Garland House in a nod to Judy Garland, comprises two large bedrooms, a bathroom, laundry and an open‑plan living area. A smaller two‑bedroom dwelling at the rear — named Liza after Liza Minnelli — provided additional accommodation and rental potential.
Swan, 51, adorned the home with a nostalgic 1970s aesthetic during her refurbishment, incorporating teak panelling, vibrant colour accents, patterned wallpaper and high ceilings to maximise natural light. The site includes a large rear garden and two undercover car spaces, a relatively uncommon feature in the state.
In July, Swan was advertising the property for lease at A$730 a week before electing to place it on the market. She told fans during the renovation process that she believed homes should be treated as members of the family and that she felt compelled to "do her justice" as she worked on the house.
The house’s location offers close access to Camberwell Junction and nearby shopping, schools and public transport links, factors agents said contributed to buyer interest. The dual‑residence layout has appealed to purchasers seeking a primary home with a separate income‑producing or guest cottage, real estate observers noted.
Swan first rose to public attention in 2003 as a contestant on the reality television program Big Brother and has since established a career as a television and radio presenter. This sale marks the disposal of a personal project she described publicly as a labour of love after a multi‑year renovation.
No details about the buyer were released. Real estate listings for Hawthorn East show a market that has remained active, with renovated character homes in inner Melbourne suburbs attracting both owner‑occupiers and investors. The sale completes the transaction several months after the property appeared on the rental market and then for sale earlier in 2025.
