Chloe Madeley posted a rare family photograph on Sunday showing her mother, former This Morning presenter Judy Finnigan, and her three-year-old daughter Bodhi during a lunch outing, with Finnigan appearing noticeably slimmer following a serious health scare seven years ago.
In the Instagram image, fitness influencer Chloe, 38, planted a kiss on Bodhi's cheek while the toddler sat close to her grandmother. Finnigan, 77, wore a white blazer over a black top; Chloe was dressed casually in a long-sleeved black top. The family later enjoyed time together at the restaurant as Chloe placed Bodhi on the shoulders of her father, Richard Madeley.
Chloe, who shares Bodhi with ex-husband and former England rugby player James Haskell, separated from Haskell in 2023. Finnigan has largely retreated from the public eye in recent years but has occasionally shared moments with family, including a 77th birthday celebration earlier this year that Chloe documented on social media.
Finnigan's slimmer appearance follows a serious medical emergency in 2018, when she suffered a ruptured stomach ulcer that required emergency treatment at the Royal Free Hospital in London and two blood transfusions, an outcome she has described as life-threatening. She has said the ulcer developed after taking ibuprofen and that without rapid medical intervention she could have "bled out within half an hour."
Following the illness, Finnigan substantially changed her diet and activity levels. Friends and family have said she worked with her daughter on a revised eating and exercise regime that led to weight loss. Reports have described reductions of two stone in recent years, while earlier coverage at the time of her recovery noted larger weight changes. A source speaking to a magazine said the dietary adjustments and increased activity had a "significant impact" on her general health.
Chloe has previously described her mother's shift in eating habits as a gradual change in palate rather than a deliberate attempt to lose weight. She told a news outlet she was surprised to find Finnigan choosing "superfood salads and soups" and exploring foods such as sushi and whole grains after previously preferring more traditional fare.
The family has kept a relatively low public profile since Finnigan and Madeley stepped back from some of their earlier broadcasting roles. Richard Madeley remains a familiar face on British breakfast television, while Finnigan has limited her media appearances but marked personal milestones with close family.
Sunday's photograph was one of a handful of recent images shared by Chloe that show Finnigan enjoying time with her daughter and granddaughter, underscoring her ongoing recovery and the family's private celebrations since the 2018 medical emergency.
