Charlotte Riley has joined the cast of Apple TV+'s "Ted Lasso" in Season 4, appearing as a potential new love interest for the titular character.
Riley's character is introduced in Season 4, Episode 5, titled "Riches of Embarrassment." She plays a stage manager Ted meets backstage while accompanying his assistant coach, Beard, to his ex-girlfriend Jane Payne's one-woman show. Following the performance, which featured Payne making accusations about Ted, he encounters the stage manager while looking at costumes. The two engage in a conversation about theater and luck, with Ted expressing admiration for her ability to "peek behind the curtain."
Their interaction concludes with the stage manager being called away, but not before complimenting Ted's jeans, which were a gift from the Lady Greyhounds women's soccer team. Ted, who had earlier expressed to his team that he felt ready to date again, seems to have found a connection. The stage manager's name has not yet been revealed.
Riley is a recognized English actor with a career spanning nearly 50 film and television credits. Viewers may know her from her role as Kat in Apple TV+'s "Trying." Other notable past roles include appearances in "Peaky Blinders," "Edge of Tomorrow," "London Has Fallen," and "The Peripheral."
