Hulu has officially renewed the football comedy series "Chad Powers" for a second season, with all six episodes set to premiere on September 3.
The series, inspired by an ESPN segment featuring Eli Manning, follows disgraced quarterback Russ Holliday as he assumes the persona of Chad Powers to continue his college football career. The first season concluded on a cliffhanger, with Chad's secret jeopardizing his relationship with Coach Ricky and leaving the outcome of a crucial game unresolved.
Season 2 will pick up by resolving the season one finale's cliffhanger, revealing the results of the make-or-break game and addressing Coach Hudson's recovery from a medical scare. The dynamic between Chad and Ricky is also expected to evolve following Ricky's discovery of Chad's true identity.
"What’s clear is that whether she likes it or not, Ricky has been pulled into this conspiracy,” co-creator Michael Waldron told Decider. “So it’s her, Russ, and Danny pulling off Chad Powers. And that’s a whole new, really fun dynamic. It’s gonna be a blast.”
Hulu’s official synopsis for the new season describes Chad as a "superstar on the field, but his odd behavior off the field has everyone suspicious — especially Coach Hudson and Gerry." It adds that while Ricky knows the truth, she is reluctant to help Chad and Danny keep his secret to lead the Catfish to the college football playoff.
Chad Powers Season 1 is currently available for streaming on Hulu. Subscription prices start at $11.99 per month for the ad-supported tier, with an ad-free option available for $18.99 per month. Bundle options that include Disney+ are also available.
