Celine Dion's bodyguard assisted her as she greeted fans outside her Paris hotel on Wednesday, marking a visible step in her return to public life and performance.

For the second time this month, the 58-year-old singer received physical support from her bodyguard as she rose from her car. Dion appeared to smile broadly while waving to the crowd gathered outside the French hotel. She was dressed in a Givenchy black suit, layered with a long grey herringbone wool coat, and accessorized with a £2,690 The Row clutch and large Givenchy sunglasses. She completed her look with towering stilettos and blew kisses to her fans.

Dion is in Paris for a five-week residency, her first series of concerts since canceling the remainder of her 2023 Courage World Tour due to her health. She announced in December 2022 that she had been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a condition characterized by muscle stiffness and painful spasms that had previously affected her mobility and singing voice.

During the opening night of her Paris residency, Dion spoke emotionally about her health battle, stating she had decided to make it "my reason for living." She described her journey as rocky and longer than expected but expressed gratitude for the support and love she has received. "I have to admit, though, that the road was rocky. The journey was longer than expected, with unplanned stops along the way. But I hung in there," she shared with the audience. She acknowledged the hardships others might be facing and encouraged sharing positive energy through music, stating, "Tonight, we'll sing, we'll dance and we'll celebrate."

Dion has been undergoing an intensive rehabilitation program, including new medication, physical therapy, vocal therapy, and immunotherapy. To maintain her strength for performances, she engages in 90-minute Pilates sessions three times a week, supplemented by twice-weekly ballet and barre classes. Her home gym is equipped with weights, a treadmill, and a reformer machine, and she has reported increased flexibility since starting her new exercise regimen.

In her documentary, "I Am: Celine Dion," she detailed the challenges of SPS, which she described as a progressive condition. She has expressed pride in her ability to achieve physical feats that her body was not initially conditioned for.

Dion's residency in Paris will include 16 shows in the autumn of 2026 and 10 additional dates in May 2027. Her comeback was announced in March, and tickets sold out immediately. She was diagnosed with SPS in 2022, after a flare-up in 2020 coincided with the start of the pandemic. During the three years she isolated from fans, she focused on her recovery and developed a deeper appreciation for nature.

The singer's last stage performance was in Riyadh, prior to which she sang at the Paris Olympics in 2024. She has expressed readiness to return to her career, including the aspects of public life she once found challenging.
