An exclusive clip from the second season of the CBC series North of North introduces viewers to Military Mitch, the community center's new first-aid instructor, portrayed by Bruce McCulloch of Kids in the Hall. The preview offers a glimpse into Mitch's unique teaching methods.

Military Mitch kicks off his first-aid class with a singular rule: "You first, then them." He claims the widely known advice about prioritizing one's own oxygen mask before assisting others originated with him, asserting that airlines ultimately appropriated the idea.

Siaja (Anna Lambe), a single mother featured in the series, expresses her appreciation for Mitch's "me-first" philosophy, noting its resonance with her own challenging living situation. Mitch, clad in a camouflage outfit, seems intrigued by Helen (Mary Lynn Rajskub), Siaja's boss, as Siaja introduces herself. Siaja explains that while her mother supported the "me-first" model, she didn't fully grasp it until Mitch's explanation.

Mitch's teaching takes a peculiar turn when he asks Siaja for the Inuktitut word for "bugs," which she provides as "kumaks." He then incorporates this into an instruction, telling the class, "Okay, you kumaks, it's time to tie some tourniquets like your life depended on it. It may!"

The series North of North, set in the fictional Nunavut community of Ice Cove, follows Siaja's journey as she strives to build a better life for herself and her daughter, Bun. Season 1 saw Siaja navigating her life as a single mother after a public separation from her ex-husband and a brief, interrupted romance with Kuuk.

The second season of North of North is set to premiere on Netflix on November 5. The show explores Siaja's efforts to find a place of her own and hints at developing dynamics between Mitch and Helen.
