Elisane da Cruz Silva, a Brazilian influencer who stands about 6ft 9in, said she and her husband face stares and smirks in public but that she no longer lets the reactions affect her family life. Silva, who was born with gigantism caused by a pituitary gland tumor, married Francinaldo Da Silva Carvalho, who is about 5ft 4in, after meeting him near her home in Salinópolis eight years ago. The couple have a three-year-old son, Angelo.

Silva and Carvalho married two years after they met. In interviews, Carvalho said he fell in love quickly, calling Silva "a beautiful person" and praising her appearance. Silva said the couple have endured judgment from strangers and, initially, members of Carvalho’s own family, but that those opinions softened as relatives saw the relationship and the family they built.

Silva described how public reaction used to affect her emotionally. "When we go out in public, we can see people looking and smirking at us," she said. "Even if they don't say anything, you can tell they are judging us. The prejudice of some people used to be too much. I suffered a lot and had depression. So if they say anything now, I don't pay attention anymore. I just ignore them. I don't like to think about it." Carvalho’s aunt and mother told interviewers they initially thought the relationship was "strange" because of the height difference, but Carvalho’s mother later called the family of three "beautiful."

Silva’s height places her well above average Brazilian adult heights, which the family noted as roughly 5ft 8in for men and 5ft 3in for women. Silva is taller than both of her parents and has said her condition affected early social and romantic prospects. Medical professionals attribute her extreme stature to excess growth hormone from a pituitary tumor, a condition that can lead to accelerated growth and enlarged features.

The couple’s path to parenthood included loss. Silva said she miscarried an earlier pregnancy with twins and described the discovery as devastating. She said she cried privately after learning the news. Months later the couple learned Silva was pregnant again, and Angelo was born after what she described as a normal delivery despite earlier medical warnings that a typical birth might not be possible because of her size.

The family has described its priorities as providing stability and affection for Angelo. Carvalho said he hopes Silva’s modeling aspirations succeed so they can secure a future for their son and pay for his education. Silva has expressed a long-standing desire to be a mother and said the birth of their son brought great happiness.

Online responses to Silva’s interviews and posts have included expressions of support and surprise at the negative reactions the couple faces. Commenters defended the couple’s relationship, saying height does not determine compatibility and praising the family’s evident affection. Silva and Carvalho have repeatedly emphasized that their relationship is founded on mutual affection, not solely on their roles as parents.

Silva’s account highlights how visible physical differences can prompt public attention and, at times, prejudice. She has spoken openly about previous depression related to that attention and said she now focuses on family life and future plans rather than on strangers’ opinions.
