Bonnie Tyler, the Welsh singer known for her powerful voice and hits like "Total Eclipse of the Heart," will be laid to rest in her hometown next month. Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, passed away on July 8 at the age of 75 following emergency surgery.

Her funeral is scheduled for August 17, with a memorial procession planned for August 15, allowing fans to pay their respects. According to an announcement from William Pressdee Funeralcare, acting on behalf of Tyler's family, fans are invited to line Newton Road in Mumbles from 3:15 p.m. on August 15 to witness the procession as Tyler's body returns to her home in Fernhill.

A "Celebration of Gaynor's life" will be held at Swansea Minster (St. Mary's Church) on August 17 at 12:00 p.m. Following the service, Tyler will travel through Skewen around 1:20 p.m. en route to a private family committal service.

In lieu of flowers, Bonnie Tyler's family has requested donations to two charities she supported: the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales and Cerebral Palsy Cymru. Her legacy, the funeral home stated, "lives on in the timeless songs that made her a legend."

Bonnie Tyler's death was announced on July 9 by her family and team, who described themselves as heartbroken. She passed away in a hospital in Portugal, where she resided with her husband, Robert Sullivan.

Earlier this year, Tyler was hospitalized in May due to complications from a burst appendix and perforated intestine, which necessitated urgent surgery. At that time, her spokesperson confirmed she had been placed in an induced coma by doctors to aid her recovery and requested privacy for the family. The surgery was initially reported to have gone well, with Tyler recuperating.

However, her health reportedly worsened, leading to a transfer to intensive care. On June 15, her team announced she had woken from a medically-induced coma after suffering a cardiac arrest a month prior, noting that while her condition was improving, the recovery process was slow.

Despite experiencing persistent pain for several weeks leading up to her hospitalization, Tyler reportedly maintained her professional activities. She had been planning a new European tour for later this year and was scheduled to perform at various festivals and venues, including Cardiff's Utilita Arena in December.

Bonnie Tyler rose to fame in the 1970s and 80s, with "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "Holding Out for a Hero" becoming global hits. She continued to perform and record throughout her career.
