An award-winning makeup artist has put 10 of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces under the microscope and ranked their eyebrows, placing Angelina Jolie at the top and Tom Cruise at the bottom.

Laura Kay, founder of Laura Kay London, told The Daily Mail she judged arches on how they frame the face, lift features and balance facial structure, assigning each star a score out of 10. She highlighted symmetry, density, arch height, tail length and grooming as key factors that can either add instant glamour or detract from a look.

Kay placed Angelina Jolie first, giving her a 9.5 out of 10. She described Jolie’s brows as "almost flawless — bold, defined, and with a high arch that perfectly complements her dramatic and unique bone structure." Kay noted the brows taper elegantly and suggested Jolie may use microblading for precision, saying additional red-carpet makeup sometimes makes them look slightly overdrawn.

Margot Robbie was second with an 8.5. Kay complimented Robbie’s soft, feminine brows and their balance with her oval face, while recommending an extended tail to add elegance. Scarlett Johansson earned an 8, with Kay calling her arches "structured and well-maintained" but pointing out a subtle mismatch in arch height that can affect symmetry in photos.

Zendaya received a 7 for naturally full, expressive brows. Kay said the fronts of Zendaya’s brows can appear heavier than the tails and could benefit from more defined arches to add lift. Timothée Chalamet also scored a 7; Kay described his brows as thick and straight and noted one brow appears denser than the other, contributing to a slightly uneven look that she suggested could be refined for a more sophisticated shape.

Jenna Ortega was placed in the middle with a 5. Kay said Ortega’s brows are straight and youthful but can look sparse at the ends and lack curve for red-carpet glamour, adding that strategic shaping could elevate them. Ryan Gosling also scored a 5; Kay called his brows neat and symmetrical but not especially memorable, suggesting fuller tails and slightly darker tone would better frame his features.

Julia Roberts received a 4.5. Kay characterized Roberts’ brows as soft and natural — part of her signature warmth — but said a higher arch and stronger tail could impart a more youthful appearance. Brad Pitt was ranked ninth with a 4. Kay criticized asymmetry and patchiness in Pitt’s brows, saying they are a rare weak spot amid otherwise striking features, and that sharper grooming could transform them.

At the bottom of Kay’s list was Tom Cruise, who received a 3 out of 10. Kay described his brows as "thin, straight, and sparse," saying they lack the density or arch that, by her assessment, helps frame a face under what she called the "golden rule of facial beauty." She added that modern techniques could achieve a fuller yet natural look.

Kay’s assessment emphasizes how eyebrow shape and grooming have become central concerns in beauty and celebrity styling. Techniques such as microblading, tinting and strategic shaping were cited repeatedly as ways to enhance symmetry and definition, particularly for red-carpet appearances.

The rankings represent one expert’s technical appraisal rather than a definitive measure of attractiveness. Kay framed her comments around structural considerations — symmetry, proportion and lift — and offered practical suggestions for each subject. The evaluation appeared in The Daily Mail’s Femail section, where Kay provided commentary alongside the numerical scores.
