New details from the autopsy report for actor James Ransone, known for his role in "The Wire," reveal he had expressed suicidal intentions prior to his death by suicide in December 2025. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner's report states Ransone indicated he "wanted to kill himself" and required transport to a hospital, according to TMZ.
Prescription drugs were discovered at the scene where Ransone, 46, was found. Ligature marks were present around his neck, consistent with the manner of death. Responding officers at the time reported no signs of foul play.
Ransone is survived by his wife, Jamie McPhee, and their two children, son Jack, 7, and daughter Violet, 5. The couple married in 2017. McPhee has shared her grief and gratitude for support on social media, noting in a May Instagram post celebrating their son's birthday that "every day is a gift" after losing her husband.
