Alison Boshoff, editor-at-large for the Daily Mail, discussed her new book "Brand Beckham" on the "Tales from the Celebrity Trenches" podcast, revealing insights into the power dynamics within the Beckham marriage.
Boshoff, who interviewed over 20 individuals for the book, stated that her research shifted her understanding of both David and Victoria Beckham. Contrary to popular perception, Boshoff found that David appears to hold more influence in the relationship than is commonly assumed. "Everyone thinks David's wonderful," Boshoff said. "They think, poor David, carted around from pillar to post by Victoria. She wears the trousers. Actually, that was not the picture at all that emerged after writing the book. Researching the book, it's entirely the other way round. That was really fascinating to me."
The book also explores Victoria Beckham's early career with the Spice Girls, detailing intense rivalries and jealousy. Boshoff noted that a source described Victoria as having become "well schooled in the art of being a b****" during that period. This understanding, Boshoff explained, helped her interpret Victoria's relationship with her eldest son Brooklyn's wife, Nicola Peltz, particularly the perceived passive-aggressive actions and social media dynamics that have fueled speculation about a rift between them.
"Brand Beckham: The Fame. The Feuds. The Fallout" by Alison Boshoff is published by Century and is available now. David and Victoria Beckham have not publicly commented on the claims made in the book.
