The popular Australian comedy series "Colin From Accounts" will end with its upcoming third season, co-creators and stars Harriet Dyer and Patrick Brammall announced Wednesday. The real-life married couple shared the news on social media, explaining that while they are excited for fans to see the new season, they feel it's the right creative moment to conclude the show.
"Creatively, it just feels like the right time for these characters and for this world," Dyer and Brammall stated in their announcement. "We don't want to flog a dead horse, comedy comes in threes." They expressed regret for any disappointment the decision might cause, adding, "We are going to miss it terribly. We love making TV for you guys and we just want to say bye, we'll see you around."
The announcement led to a wave of sadness from fans online, who expressed their desire for the show to continue.
"Colin From Accounts," co-created by Dyer, 38, and Brammall, 50, premiered in 2022 and quickly gained global acclaim. The series follows the unconventional relationship between Ashley and Gordon, whose lives become intertwined after a car accident and the subsequent care of an injured dog. The show is produced by Binge and features a supporting cast of Australian actors.
The series has achieved significant success, airing in over 100 countries and garnering numerous awards. Dyer and Brammall received an AACTA award for Best Narrative Comedy Series, along with two Logie Awards for Most Outstanding Actor and Actress. The show also received accolades at the Venice TV Awards, the European Broadcasting Union’s Rose d'Or awards, and London's C21 International Awards.
The third and final season of "Colin From Accounts" is scheduled to be available for streaming on Monday, July 27.
