AnnaLynne McCord, the 39-year-old actress, has disclosed that she received death threats following the creation of a crowdfunding page for her wedding to former rugby star Danny Cipriani. The couple is set to marry in their Los Angeles garden on Saturday, marking the first of three planned ceremonies.
Last month, it was reported that McCord and Cipriani, 38, had requested that family and friends contribute to their approximately £10,000 wedding expenses. This request, deemed unconventional given their public profiles and perceived lavish lifestyles, drew considerable attention.
McCord explained that she mistakenly made the wedding wishlist public, believing it was only shared with invited guests. "I was told I was despicable and that I was trying to extort money from my wedding guests," she told The Sun. "People actually donated ten dollars towards the wedding so they could write on the site that Danny and I were disgusting. There were even death threats."
Insiders reportedly branded the move "tacky and distasteful" for a couple who have amassed significant fortunes. Cipriani is estimated to have earned around £4 million during his rugby career, while McCord has achieved success in television roles on "Nip/Tuck" and "90210," with a recent part in "Days of Our Lives" announced in 2023.
The crowdfunding page, set up via the Honeyfund platform, listed specific elements of the wedding for which guests could contribute, with donation amounts ranging from £75 ($100) to £450 ($600). The total goal for these items was £10,660, separate from a general cash donation section.
McCord stated that the page was created in response to guests frequently asking about gift preferences. "Everyone was asking what they could give us. I was like, I have five blenders. I have everything for my home," she explained. "We wrote on the wedding invite that in lieu of gifts we would love to feel our guests’ contributions in the flowers, music and on our big day. I didn’t know that it was an open link until a co-star at work asked me: 'Are you crowdfunding for your wedding?'"
Following the Los Angeles ceremony, the couple plans two additional celebrations: one in London to accommodate more of Cipriani's family, and a "traditional celebration" in Cambodia. The London event is being organized due to the "short notice" of the Los Angeles wedding.
McCord and Cipriani first met on the dating app Raya approximately a decade ago. Their relationship has been on-and-off, with a period of separation in 2020 and a brief reconnection in early 2025. They were reportedly back together last summer, sharing a kiss at an Emmy nomination party in July, with Cipriani publicly expressing his affection for McCord on her birthday last year.
McCord's engagement ring is described as a 15-carat, emerald-cut diamond with accent diamonds, set in yellow gold.
