Alesha Dixon has shared a cryptic social media post alluding to private hurt following the announcement of a solo tour by her Mis-Teeq bandmate Sabrina Washington. The post surfaced after Washington announced her intention to embark on a solo headline tour, a plan reportedly not communicated to Dixon or fellow group member Su-Elise Nash.
Mis-Teeq, comprising Dixon, Washington, and Nash, recently reunited for a 25th-anniversary concert at London's OVO Arena Wembley, sparking fan excitement for potential future performances. However, Washington's solo tour announcement on Monday appeared to dash hopes for a more permanent group reunion.
Su-Elise Nash publicly expressed her surprise at the development, stating in an Instagram post that the news of Mis-Teeq's split was unexpected. Nash detailed that the group had a deadline on the day of Washington's announcement to confirm plans for additional shows, including appearances at major UK festivals.
"As far as I was aware, today was our deadline to make a decision on some incredible Mis-Teeq offers for 2027… including headlining a major UK festival, performing at another huge UK festival and potentially taking the show regional for everyone who couldn't make Wembley," Nash wrote. "After the incredible response to our sold-out Wembley Arena show, I genuinely believed these were opportunities we were all excited about and hopefully saying YES to today as Mis-Teeq! So to find out that a press release went out to media today saying 'Mis-Teeq have split' has taken me by surprise. That's news to me…"
Amid Nash's candid remarks, Dixon alluded to her own feelings by reposting a message about Libras, which read: "She is Libra. Hurts privately. Heals privately. Figures it out privately. Then shows up like it never happened." Dixon had also been sharing fan clips of the recent Wembley gig around the same time.
Representatives for Mis-Teeq confirmed that "Sabrina and her team issued a press release to media saying 'Mis-Teeq Split' and announcing her solo tour, without telling Alesha, Su-Elise or anyone on the Mis-Teeq team."
Washington's solo tour is set to feature Mis-Teeq hits such as "Scandalous," "All I Want," "One Night Stand," and "Why," alongside tracks from her solo career, including "OMG," "Make It Hot," and "Don't Call Me."
In a statement, Washington expressed excitement about the fan reaction to the reunion and the demand for more shows. "From the moment Wembley was announced, I was receiving messages from people saying, 'What about Manchester? Where's Birmingham? Are you coming to Scotland? What about the rest of the world?' and I kept seeing people saying that one night simply wasn't enough," she said. "So there really could only be one name for this tour!"
Washington added, "This tour gives me the opportunity to celebrate that music in my own way and get much closer to the public who have supported us for all these years. And I want it to feel like a proper night out. I want people getting their old gang back together, getting dressed up, doing their hair and make-up with the music blasting and then coming out and feeling like they're back in those clubs again. We're going to have special guests, surprises and some familiar faces from that era joining us along the way, so every night can have something a little bit different."
