Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Sarah Pidgeon were observed engaging in a passionate kiss on a Manhattan street as they filmed scenes for the forthcoming Netflix limited series, "Enigma Variations." Taylor-Johnson, 36, portrays Paul, the central character in the adaptation of André Aciman's novel, which delves into his romantic and sexual relationships with both men and women over approximately a decade.
Pidgeon, 30, is cast as Chloe, a character who shares a recurring connection with Paul and appears at various stages of his life, becoming a significant thread throughout the narrative. This role marks Pidgeon's first since her Emmy-nominated performance as Carolyn Bessette in FX's "Love Story." She is the final female character to be cast in the series.
Images from the set capture the intense dynamic between the two characters. In one sequence, Pidgeon's character is depicted with a flirtatious smirk while smoking a cigarette, before she and Taylor-Johnson's character embrace intimately. Taylor-Johnson, dressed in a cream polo neck jumper and a grey coat, held Pidgeon's jaw as they kissed for the cameras. Pidgeon wore a velvet paisley jacket with a red fur collar, tights, and gold slingback heels for the scene, which was shot outside a cinema.
The role of Paul was initially slated for Jeremy Allen White before Taylor-Johnson took over. "Enigma Variations" is based on a novel by André Aciman, who also authored "Call Me By Your Name." The cast also includes Alicia Vikander as Claire, Paul's wife and a significant love interest. Other cast members feature Riley Keough as Maud, Devon Terrell as Manfred, Nicholas Podany as Harlan, and Carl Clemons-Hopkins as Noah. Supporting roles are filled by Peter Hermann as Isaac, Juliana Canfield as Allie, and Francesca Cavallin as Luciana.
The series is described as an exploration of masculinity, sexuality, and modern love in an era of abundant choices, posing the question of how one recognizes their true partner.
