Costco Wholesale plans to open 14 new warehouse locations across the United States and Canada by the end of 2026, signaling continued growth for the bulk retailer.

Five of the new stores are scheduled to open in October, and an additional nine are slated for November. The October openings will establish new Costco locations in Lee's Summit, Missouri; The Colony, Texas; Amherst, New York; Lawrence, Kansas; and Camarillo, California. In November, new warehouses will open in South Meridian, Idaho; Vallejo, California; Chandler, Arizona; Newport News, Virginia; and Franklin, Wisconsin.

Canada will also see four new Costco locations, with planned openings in Northeast Edmonton and Lloydminster in Alberta, and East Windsor and Wasaga Beach in Ontario.

In some instances, the expansion involves relocating to larger facilities. The Newport News, Virginia, store will replace a warehouse that has been in operation since 1988. The new Virginia location will be a 163,000-square-foot facility on a 32-acre property, complete with a fuel station.

These openings are part of a broader expansion strategy announced by Costco CEO Ron Vachris. Vachris has stated that the company aims to open 30 or more warehouses each year for the next five to ten years, with approximately half of these in the U.S. and the remainder distributed internationally. Potential international markets for expansion include Canada, Mexico, Asia, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

The retailer's growth strategy also includes expanding its standalone fuel stations. Earlier in 2025, Costco opened its first fuel-only location in Mission Viejo, California, a move that marked an evolution for the company, which had previously only offered gas stations adjacent to its warehouse stores. This stand-alone station replaced a former Bed Bath & Beyond store and requires a Costco membership for service. The company's network of 747 gas stations contributed significantly to its annual sales, accounting for 10 percent of total revenue in 2025. Costco also expanded gas station hours nationwide in June 2025, with weekday operations from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and weekend hours from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 7:30 p.m. on Sundays.

The increased demand for Costco's offerings, particularly its discounted bulk products and affordable gasoline, has been cited as a factor driving its expansion. The company currently operates approximately 920 locations globally, including a standalone gas station.
