A 64-year-old woman was miraculously rescued alive on September 5 after being trapped for 10 days in a house buried by severe floods in Nepal. Chandika Kumari Shrestha was found in Betrawati, Nuwakot, when rescuers heard her calling from inside the collapsed four-story building.
She survived in a small pocket of air within the debris. Her family had already begun mourning her presumed death before the successful rescue operation. Shrestha was transported to an army hospital for medical evaluation following her ordeal.
