Two women were critically injured after a police car, traveling with lights and sirens, collided with their sedan in Sydney's southwest on Sunday afternoon. The crash occurred around 12:20 p.m. at Prairie Vale Road in Bossley Park.

The collision caused both the police vehicle and the Kia sedan to leave the roadway, break through a fence, and strike two separate houses. The police car was reportedly responding to an incident involving a child seen running on the road.

The driver of the Kia, a woman in her late 20s, was treated at the scene by paramedics and transported to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. Her passenger, a woman believed to be in her early 50s, was taken to Liverpool Hospital, also in a critical condition.

Two male police officers, both 24-year-old constables, were taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing and treatment of minor injuries. Occupants of the houses that were struck were not injured.
