Russell Brand's wife, Laura Gallacher, plans to move back to the UK with their three children to be closer to the comedian as he begins a lengthy jail sentence following his conviction for rape and sexual assault. Friends revealed that Gallacher intends to stand by Brand, believing in his innocence.
The couple, who previously lived in Florida, are set to relocate to Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, where they own a home. Brand, 51, was found guilty of raping a fan after a 2009 stand-up show and of sexually assaulting three other women in separate incidents between 2004 and 2009. He was cleared of two other charges.
Gallacher, 39, has reportedly confided in friends that her "whole world has collapsed" following the convictions, but remains "resolutely loyal" to her husband. She was reportedly present in court daily during the trial and was the only individual to give evidence in person in Brand's defense.
Brand and Gallacher met in 2006 and married in 2017. They relocated to the United States in 2024 following allegations made against Brand in a Channel 4 Dispatches investigation. Brand was formally charged in April of the same year. The couple also co-host a Christian YouTube show, "Sunday Service."
During their podcast appearances prior to the trial, Brand and Gallacher discussed their faith and their presence in the UK. Gallacher expressed nervousness about public scrutiny, while Brand spoke about finding solace in his Christian faith. Brand, who embraced Christianity and was baptized in the River Thames in 2024, is due to be sentenced at Southwark Crown Court. He was denied bail over the weekend to spend time with his children, who are aged nine, eight, and three.
