Airstrikes on Saturday in a town near Yemen's capital, Sanaa, killed at least 22 people and wounded 30 others, according to Anees Alasbahi, a spokesman for Yemen’s Houthi-run Health Ministry. The majority of those killed and injured were women and children.
Alasbahi accused Saudi Arabia of carrying out the strikes in the village of al-Shariya. Saudi Arabia had not immediately commented on the incident. The Houthi-run Health Ministry is responsible for reporting casualties in territory controlled by the Houthi movement.
The attacks occurred one day after Houthi officials reported that 30 people died in airstrikes on a market in southern Yemen. Both the Houthi movement and the Saudi-backed Yemeni military blamed each other for that earlier strike.
