An Aer Lingus flight traveling from Dublin to Rome was diverted to a French airbase Thursday morning after a bomb threat, according to the French prime minister's office. The Airbus A320 landed safely at the Evreux air base in northern France. Aer Lingus confirmed the diversion of flight EI402 was a security precaution and stated the airline would work to re-accommodate affected customers.
This incident follows similar threats made earlier in the week. On Tuesday, seven other flights were searched after receiving anonymous bomb threats. Among them, two flights departed from the UK: one from Manchester landed in Murcia, Spain, and another from London Heathrow was diverted to Warsaw, Poland. Additionally, two Ryanair flights, one from Dublin and another from Lisbon, were searched upon landing in Rome after anonymous tips, though no explosives were found.
The UK government has described these events as "malicious hoax threats."
